STORIA:
La sua carriera viene salvata da David Bowie, che riconoscendo in Reed uno dei suoi principali ispiratori, gli produce l'album insieme al suo chitarrista di fiducia, Mick Ronson. L'album è Transformer, che contiene classici come "Perfect Day" (ripreso dal film Trainspotting, negli anni 90), "Walk On The Wild Side", "Satellite Of Love", "Make Up" e "Vicious" (ripresa da Ligabue per il suo primo film, Radiofreccia). Da allora la carriera di Reed (che non si sarebbe mai più affidato alla produzione di Bowie) ha avuto alti e bassi, ma ha saputo regalarci perle come Berlin (con Steve Windwood e Jack Bruce), Rock 'n Roll Animal Live, Street Hassle (con Bruce Springsteen), Take No Prisoner, The Bells (con Don Cherry), The Blue Mask (con Robert Quine, che oltre ad aver registrato bootleg dei Velvet, aveva precedentemente lavorato con Richard Hell, facendo parte dei suoi Voidoids), New York (con Moe Tucker), Songs For Drella (con Cale), Magic And Loss (con Rob Wasserman), Set The Twilight Reeling (con Laurie Anderson), Ecstasy e The Raven, una delle sue opere più recenti, che è una rilettura in chiave rock dell'opera omonima di Poe, e che vede nella line up gente del calibro di Ornette Coleman, David Bowie, Laurie Anderson e attore come Willem Dafoe.
